Jason Gray

Jason Gray began building a loyal fanbase as an independent artist and his talent garnered the attention of CCM artist, Sara Groves, and Gray credits Groves with giving him an important start in his career. After playing guitar and being the opening act on several of Groves tour dates, it eventually led to opening for additional acts, such as BarlowGirl and Shaun Groves. Gray eventually recorded two independent projects before signing with Centricity Music and releasing his first national CD in 2007, All The Lovely Losers. The project received rave reviews and was heralded as one of the top albums of that year. Gray’s sophomore project, Everything Sad Is Coming Untrue firmly established him has a solid artist in the Christian music genre. The album brought Gray his highest-charting single, "More Like Falling In Love", and the song garnered Gray his first ASCAP Performance Award in 2011. Gray has toured with such major acts as Michael W. Smith, Third Day, tobyMac, Sanctus Real, Francesca Battistelli, Tenth Avenue North and Jeremy Camp.

Nashville, TN ----- Singer/songwriter Jason Gray continues his holiday tradition, when he launches his 3rd annual Christmas Stories Tour on December 6th in Dubuque, IA. The 8-city tour will also feature Centricity Music’s breakout artist, Lauren Daigle, and the powerful rock band, Carrollton. Gray will be performing songs from his 2012 album, Christmas Stories: Repeat The Sounding Joy, while Daigle will treat audiences to “Light of the World,” and Carrollton will perform “What Child Is This?” The latter two songs are from Centricity Music’s 2013 album, Christmas: Joy To The World.

“I’ve always felt that if I could be known for only one record, I’d want it to be my Christmas album,” says Gray. “I have such a deep sense of gratification and gratitude over these songs. I am glad that I got to join in the telling of the greatest story ever told, a story that takes us in and, if we let it, has the power to make us children again. Because there are so many hopes and fears, joys and disappointments, such loneliness and such love associated with the season of Christmas, I believe that there is great opportunity for healing. And so, I love to sing the story and watch it do its work.

I’m also grateful to have two of my sons out with me again this year—Kipper on keys and Gus singing his solo—but I’m also excited to have two special guest artists with me this year,” adds Gray, “Carrollton (who becomes everyone’s favorite band the moment they hear them live) and Lauren Daigle (whose voice and song, ‘How Can It Be,’ are taking radio by storm). Wow. These people are so authentic, gifted, and passionate. We are trying out a new format for the tour that will serve the story, keep it fun, and provide special moments with the different artists. I can’t wait to enjoy them with you!”

Gray just completed his first headlining tour, With Every Act Of Love Tour, that also featured labelmates, Unspoken, Lindsay McCaul and Carrollton. The 29-city tour was presented by World Vision and ran from September 26 - November 9. The tour was named after Gray’s No. 1 hit single and is from his latest album, Love Will Have The Final Word that is available at all online and retail music outlets.

Nashville, TN - The talented Jason Gray is rounding up his Centricity Music labelmates to join his upcoming headlining tour, With Every Act Of Love Tour. The tour will feature guest artists, Unspoken and Lindsay McCaul, while introducing the band, Carrollton. Presented by World Vision, the tour will run September 26 – November 11 and is scheduled to visit 21 cities, with additional dates being announced soon. Tickets for the dates are available through iTickets.com. The tour is named after Gray’s No. 1 hit single and is from his latest album, Love Will Have The Final Word that is available at all online and retail music outlets.

"I’m excited about my first headlining tour and grateful to be joined by my friends Unspoken, Lindsay McCaul, and Carrollton!,” exclaims Gray. “I look forward to singing these new songs, which are the most personal I’ve written, for the audiences so we can laugh, cry, and do some soul mining together.”

Gray adds, “There is a real sense of family among everyone at my label, Centricity Music. In fact, one of the first criteria an artist or band has to meet in order to be signed is, ‘would we have them over for dinner?’ This sense of ‘family’ runs through every relationship. With our whole tour being comprised of all Centricity artists, I’m excited for us to take this ‘family’ out on the road. Unspoken, Carrollton, and myself had the best time doing a short run of shows in the spring and we’re excited to have Lindsay McCaul join us, who is as passionate and authentic as they come. From introspective singer/songwriter songs, to rootsy foot stomping soul cries, and infectious pop anthems, this is going to be a great night of music. A family party with lots of heart!"

Nashville, TN ---- It’s been a record-breaking week for the talented Jason Gray, as his current album Love Will Have The Final Word debuted on Billboard’s Christian Albums chart at No. 10. This is the highest album debut for the Centricity Music artist, with a project that features continued growth and maturity as a singer/songwriter. Produced by Jason Ingram (Chris Tomlin, Sanctus Real, Tenth Avenue North) and Cason Cooley (Derek Webb, Andrew Peterson), the album has been honored with strong reviews from numerous media outlets.

CCM Magazine – “By far his stronger work, the record is steeped in love and hope, finished off with a fresh fervor for truth, compassion and grace.”

NewReleaseTuesday.com – “If you are looking for the top male singer-songwriter album of the year, look no further than this stellar offering.”

JesusFreakHideout.com – “If there is one thing Gray does well (amongst all the things he does, in fact, do well), it is to craft music that appeals to nearly all musical audiences, be it the fervent enthusiast, the cynical critic, the casual consumer, or even the simply disinterested.”

“We are overwhelmed by the response to Jason's new project,” says Steve Ford, Vice President of Marketing, Centricity Music. “Jason toiled to deliver a record filled with songs that emotionally connect with people, and we think he delivered that by writing his best songs to date. To have radio, reviewers and fans react so positively is proof of the hard work Jason and the team have put into this record.”

The first single from the new album, “With Every Act Of Love,” marks the first No. 1 single for Gray on Billboard’s AC Indicator chart, and the second No. 1 song of his career. “Nothing Is Wasted” reached the top of the Soft AC chart last May. At the same time, the song received strong audience support during the recent KLOVE Listener Appreciation Tour where fans packed the venues in Baton Rouge, LA; San Antonio, TX; Oklahoma City, OK; Denver, CO and Kansas City, MO. Also appearing on the tour were labelmates Unspoken and Carrollton.

Up next for Gray is The Bible: Son of God 2014 Tour that launches March 20th at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA. Nashville, TN — Centricity Music singer/songwriter Jason Gray readies the release of his latest project, Love Will Have The Final Word, March 4th. In true Gray fashion, the album is a soul-stirring collection of songs that speaks to the redeeming power of unfailing love.
Produced by Jason Ingram (Chris Tomlin, Sanctus Real, Tenth Avenue North) and Cason Cooley (Derek Webb, Andrew Peterson), sonically the record blends Gray’s acoustic guitar with touches of banjo, mandolin and sweeping pop. Its mood is often somber, thoughtful, and ebullient, mirroring the album’s powerful lyrics. Gray co-wrote every track with an all-star team including Ingram, Andy Gullahorn, Ben Glover, Josh Wilson, and Nichole Nordeman.
Possessing an uncanny ability to convey deep theological truths in engaging three-and-a-half minute songs, Gray’s Love Will Have The Final Word asserts that through the ups and downs of life, the ultimate victory has been won for us . . . Love has spoken.
Listeners can relate to stand-out track “Not Right Now,” a first-person account of grief, and “The Final Word,” which takes place amidst confusion and struggle. Similarly, anthem “As I Am” retells the emotions of Adam and Eve in the garden after they’ve sinned.
Yet, Love Will Have The Final Word finds balance in songs that emphasize the restorative nature of love as well, like the celebratory “Laugh out Loud;” “Begin Again,” a beacon of light signaling recovery; and “With Every Act of Love,” which recounts the positive actions that follow redemption.
"I hope when people hear the record they are persuaded that God deeply loves them for who they are and not for who they think they should be,” explains Gray. "That they are assured that His love gets the last say over whatever has happened, is happening, or will happen in their lives, and that this hope is the cause for deep peace and joy. I pray that both those who are rejoicing and those who are grieving find that they are not alone, and that through all of it, by the grace of God, something of the wisdom of Love is made real.”
Love Will Have The Final Word is already being received enthusiastically, as the lead single “With Every Act of Love” helped mark the most successful launch at radio in Centricity music history with 39 adds its debut week. Consequently, Gray will support the record’s early radio success with a K-LOVE radio tour March 5-9. Additional details are forthcoming.
Furthermore, Gray will also hit the road in March alongside Natalie Grant, Francesca Battistelli, Sidewalk Prophets, Chris August, and Meredith Andrews for “The Bible” tour, based on Mark Burnett and Roma Downey's hit miniseries, visiting 16 cities nationwide. The latter two songs mark the debut Centricity Music releases from Jonny Diaz and Lauren Daigle, and the first Christmas song from Unspoken.
“Christmas is such an emotional time for Christians,” says Steve Ford, Vice President of Marketing, Centricity Music. “It is a time of joy and reflection, love and thanks. It covers the gamut of feelings and that is reflected in the music on our Christmas release. You have the joy of ‘Feliz Navidad’ the epic ‘Light Of The World’ or the intimate ‘Asleep In The Hay.’ It is also a great vehicle to introduce some of our new artists to the world. We hope you love Lauren and Carrollton as much as we do.”

Nashville, TN - Jason Gray is enjoying his first #1 single this week as Nothing Is Wasted reached the top spot on the Soft AC Chart. The song is having a strong impact with fans, as Gray continues to get letters of support for the single, with the messages saying how the hope and reminder that Jesus is our redeemer has changed their lives. It's from the deepest wounds/That beauty finds a place to bloom/And you will see before the end/That every broken piece is/Gathered in the heart of Jesus/And what's lost will be found again.

“Wow! That’s all I can say,” exclaims Gray. “Of all my songs, the one I most look forward to singing is Nothing Is Wasted because I know there’s always someone in the audience who needs to hear it—someone who longs to be assured that loss, pain, and even failure do not get to have the last say. God, the One who holds all our stories and works all things together for the good of those who love Him, has the last say and His final word is love. I daily get notes from people telling me how this song found them when they needed it most. I’m so grateful for the support radio has given this single and that it’s finding its mark in the hearts of so many people.”

Gray will be in Nashville, TN on Friday, May 31st to perform a pre-game concert at the Nashville Sounds Faith & Family Night presented by 94FM The Fish. Other exciting concert news for Gray is that he will tour with Steven Curtis Chapman and Laura Story this fall. More details will be announced soon.

Nashville, TN — Never expect the normal standard from the talented Jason Gray, as his first Christmas project presents a deeper story celebrating the birth of Christ. Christmas Stories: Repeat The Sounding Joy offers a 14-song collection that includes 11 original songs that are interwoven with several carols, and tells the miraculous Christmas story through the eyes of the wisemen, the innkeeper, the shepherds and others in order to focus on the details inside the Christmas narrative. Produced by Cason Cooley (Andrew Peterson, Katie Herzig, Matthew Perryman Jones), Gray’s new project also features collaborations with Nicole Nordeman, Joel Hanson, Andy Gullahorn, and Randall Goodgame, that so effectively describe the joy that is encapsulated within a somber dramatic story.

“The real story of Christmas can get lost in the shuffle,” Jason explains. “But when I had the idea to create a collection of songs that tell the very human stories of the characters we’re so familiar with, I was instantly intrigued and excited, and maybe a little daunted, by the prospect. I wanted to bring them back from just being iconic story characters and to consider who they really were, what events were unfolding in their lives, and how they as human beings in extraordinary circumstances were responding.”

Gray’s first Christmas offering is already receiving strong support as the best-selling author and pastor, Max Lucado says, "I love Jason's voice, his songs, and most of all his heart. This Christmas release is a Christmas gift for us all!"

The album kicks-off with the Christmas standard, Oh Come All Ye Faithful and segues into Christmas Is Coming that launches the narrative into the lives and thoughts of the story’s characters. Other original songs include; Gloria (The Song Of The Shepherds), Rest(The Song Of The Innkeeper, and the story of the Magi, Easier. The most personal song for Gray on Christmas Stories: Repeat The Sounding Joy is the song written with Nordeman, Christmas For Jesus. It features Jason’s older twin sons, Kipper and Jacob, providing background vocals and handclaps on the album, but it’s Gray’s youngest son, Gus, who takes the lead vocal.

“Someone in our church shared about their granddaughter,” Gray says, “and how she asked, ‘I know Christmas for us is when Jesus was born into our world. Is Christmas for Jesus when we’re born into his world?’ I loved that idea and I wrestled with it for months trying to turn it into a full blown song. Eventually I realized it might be better as a shorter little musical poem, sweet and simple, and it became the song, "Christmas For Jesus." It was such a childlike perspective that I, as a grown man, felt weird singing it. So I thought ‘Hey, what about Gus?’ He came into the studio and sang it with his feet up on the wall, playing around with the mic as he was singing, jumping up and down—but he got it! And it’s pretty beautiful, I think. My older boys, Kipper and Jacob, got to sing and do handclaps on the record too, so it was a really special thing to me to have all of them involved.”

Gray will headline The Christmas Stories Tour in December and the first single from Christmas Stories: Repeat The Sounding Joy will be serviced to radio in October. But coming up first, Gray will hit the road for An Acoustic Evening With Jason Gray and Todd Agnew in September.
