'Unplugged: The Candlelight Series' launches with May 1 event featuring Robbie Seay

AUSTIN, Texas—“Unplugged: The Candlelight Series,” an evening of music and film featuring acclaimed singer/songwriter and recording artist Robbie Seay, will be held May 1 at Riverbend Church in Austin. The event marks the first installment of the “Unplugged: The Candlelight Series” performances, each to be recorded for national release.

In addition to Seay, the May 1 event will feature Jamaa Unplugged—a screening of the film Journey to Jamaa, directed by Michael Landon Jr., with live score performance by 1211. Presented by Creative Arts Group (CAG) and World Vision, “Unplugged: The Candlelight Series” will be performed at 6 pm and 8 pm. Admission is free.

“The authenticity and transparency of Robbie’s music is an ideal complement to the power and intensity of Jamaa Unplugged,” said Ramy Antoun, creative director and co-founder, CAG and founding member, 1211. “We can’t think of a better way to kick off our ‘Unplugged: The Candlelight Series’ events and recordings.”

“Jamaa Unplugged is birthed from the desire for World Vision and 1211 to invite the congregation into worship,” said Michael Bianchi, Director, World Vision Artists. View a trailer for Jamaa Unplugged here: http://youtu.be/IItr3qsN970

Robbie Seay Band has received international acclaim over the last decade for the group’s creative musicianship, honest songwriting and vulnerable vocals. With roots at Houston’s Ecclesia church, founded by Robbie’s brother Chris, Robbie Seay Band continues to create music embraced by worshipping communities around the world. The group’s latest recording, Rich & Poor, released earlier this year.

1211 is a collection of artists, songwriters and performers who share a past of brokenness. Each a worship leader in their own right, the 12 unique artists who comprise the group use their musical gifts to testify to the redemption and grace they have experienced.
