White Heart began as a pop/rock outfit in 1982, having previously been a back up band for the Bill Gaither Trio and the New Gaither Vocal Band. Their first album featured Steve Green as a member, who went on to a successful solo career in inspirational music. The band solidified as a rock band, in the style of Petra, when vocalist Rick Florian joined them for the Don't Wait For The Movie album. Over the years the musicians have changed with only Billy Smiley and Mark Gersmehl remaining as founding members. They officially disbanded in 1998, though numerous best of collections continue to appear.
