Mylon began his musical career as a child as a part of the Southern vocal group, The Singing LeFevres. At age 16 he wrote the song, "Without Him," a song that went on to be recorded by hundreds of artists. In 1970, Mylon wed his love of the gospel with rock music, releasing what is generally regarded as the 2nd Christian rock album (Mylon, often referred to as We Believe). Subsequent albums (1971's With Holy Smoke, 1972's Over The Influence, 1973's On The Road To Freedom, 1977's Weak At The Knees, 1978's Love Rustler, and 1979's Rock and Roll Resurrection) strayed away from his Christian roots and feature little spiritual content. But in 1982, Mylon, after a dramatic recommitment to God in the beginning of the 1980s, formed the band Broken Heart and released the album, Brand New Start. They performed all over the world until 1991, and saw thousands come to Christ as a result of their ministry.
